Welcome to the website of ECWM3, the only international conference dedicated to all wood modification technologies. The next conference will be held at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff, Wales UK on October 15 and 16th 2007. This promises to be a very exciting event, with a substantial number of technologies having moved from the laboratory to commercial reality.

Thus far we have already seen the commercialisation of many thermal modification technologies, such as the Finnish Thermowood™ process, PlatoWood™ in The Netherlands Thermoholz™ in Austria, La Bois Perdure™ in Quebec, Retitech™ in France, the oleothermic modification processes Royale™ from Osmose UK and Menzholz™ in Germany, the resin modification process Indurite™ from Osmose UK, and the furfurylation of wood (Kebony™ and Visorwood™) from Wood Polymer Technologies in Norway. ECWM2 saw the launch of the resin modification process Belmadur™ by BASF Germany. The year 2007 will see the launch of Accoya™ acetylated wood being produced on a commercial scale in Europe by Titanwood, and the commercial production of the mixed anhydride modification Wood Protect™ from Lapeyre in France.
